The following were among actions taken at the July 12 meeting of the Fairfax County School Board. For more information, call 246-2991.
BOARD CHAIRMAN -- The School Board reelected Kohann H. Whitney chairman and Laura I. McDowall vice chairman for the 1990-1991 school year. Both are Democrats.
Whitney was appointed to the board in 1985 by Supervisor Martha V. Pennino and was elected chairman last summer, replacing former chairman Anthony T. Lane. McDowall was appointed to the board in 1982 by Supervisor Audrey Moore and also was elected vice chairman last summer, replacing Carla Yock.
The county board also agreed to maintain pay for School Board members at $8,000 a year, to pay the School Board chairman $8,500 a year and to pay the student representative to the board $50 for each meeting.
SCHOOL SITES -- The board authorized school officials to negotiate with the Fairfax County Park Authority to permit temporary use of four undeveloped county school sites for park and recreation purposes.
The future school sites are the Fairfax Park school site near Lake Braddock, the Hutchison Intermediate school site near the town of Herndon, the Lawyers Road site northwest of the town of Vienna and the Pohick High school site in the South Run area of the county.
