Two men were killed over the weekend and another died Friday of gunshot wounds suffered 11 days earlier, raising the city's homicide total to 273, D.C. police said. There were 250 killings at this time last year.
Two men were gunned down early Saturday in separate incidents that occurred about 20 minutes apart.
About 3:40 a.m., 7th District police officers responded to the 1900 block of Shipley Terrace SE, where they found Bernard Anderson, 24, suffering from gunshot wounds.
Anderson, of the 1000 block of Third Street SE, was taken to the Medical Examiner's Office, where he was pronounced dead at 5:05 a.m., police said.
There are no suspects or motives in the shooting, police said.
At 3:59 a.m., 5th District police reponding to a report of a shooting in the 1100 block of 21st Street NE found Tony Dublin, 34, lying on the sidewalk. Dublin, a resident of the block, was pronounced dead at the Medical Examiner's Office about 5:40 a.m., police said.
Shortly after that shooting, police arrested Robert White, 35, also of the 1100 block of 21st Street NE, and charged him with homicide, police said.
On Friday, Leon Porter, 18, died in Howard University Hospital of gunshot wounds he received July 16. Porter, of the 900 block of S Street NW, was found wounded in the 900 block of French Street NW.
