Three people were killed in a span of 35 minutes early yesterday, all victims of shootings in separate parts of the District, police said.

The spurt of violence, which occurred between 3:40 a.m. and 4:15 a.m., had homicide investigators responding simultaneously to locations in Southeast and Northeast.

Investigators spent most of the day yesterday questioning people, and many details remained unclear. No one was arrested, and the motives are unknown, police said.

The first shooting occurred on the 1600 block of E Street NE. Police found two men who had been shot several times each.

One of the men, Michael Crowder, 20, of the 1600 block of Isherwood Street NE, had been shot in the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene. The second man, a 22-year-old whom police would not identify, was taken to D.C. General Hospital and released after being treated for gunshot wounds.

Ten minutes later, at 3:50 a.m., police responding to a shooting in the 1700 block of P Street SE found a 21-year-old man shot in the side. The victim, whose identity was unavailable yesterday, was dead at the scene, police said.

At 4:15 a.m., an unidentified 29-year-old man was found on the 3900 block of Wheeler Road SE. Police said he had been shot twice in the upper torso. He was taken to Washington Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Police also are investigating the stabbing of a 24-year-old woman who was found on the 1300 block of Southern Avenue SE. She was listed in critical condition.
