Lucketts Fair Set

Attention bluegrass fans: The 17th annual Lucketts Fair takes place this weekend from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Besides continuous live bluegrass music, the fair offers children's entertainment, antiques, artisans, a farmyard zoo, pony rides and lots of food, including hand-churned ice cream. The fair will be held at the Lucketts Community Center, eight miles north of Leesburg on Route 15. Admission is $2, and children younger than 6 get in free. Call 777-8881.

Wining in Middleburg

For those who prefer a jazz band and a good glass of wine to bluegrass and ice cream, Virginia's oldest wine festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Swedenburg Winery in Middleburg. More than 20 wineries will offer their wines for tasting and sale to guests age 21 and older. "Dixieland by Southern Comfort," a regional jazz band, will play throughout the day. Admission is $10. Busy Week at the Park

This week at Sky Meadows State Park: A demonstration of caning and split-bottom chair weaving from 9:30 a.m to 4:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday; story-telling from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, and a five-mile hike from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. Rabies Clinic

The Elizabeth Foster Fund for Animals will sponsor a rabies clinic from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Loudoun County Animal Shelter at Routes 9 and 704. The cost is $4 per vaccination. Dogs must be on a leash, and cats in a box or cage. Animals must be at least three months old. License tags for dogs also will be on sale. Call 882-3211.

Golf Tournament

The Loudoun County Parks and Recreation Junior Invitational Golf Tournament will take place Aug. 31 at Goose Creek Golf Course in Leesburg. The deadline for entry is tomorrow. The tournament will begin at 10 a.m. and is open to boys and girls age 11 to 17. The fee per golfer is $20. Entry forms are available at Douglass Community Center, 407 E. Market St., Leesburg. Truck Rodeo

The Leesburg office of the Virginia Department of Transportation will sponsor its third annual Truck Rodeo at 9 a.m. tomorrow at Fireman's Field in Purcellville. Drivers will compete by steering a five-ton dump truck fitted with a snow plow blade through a course designed to simulate an icy, snow-covered Loudoun road. Admission is free.

Cajun Dance Band

File', a Cajun dance band, will perform this weekend at the Sunday Courthouse Concert. The show begins at 7 p.m. on the courthouse lawn in Leesburg and is sponsored by the Bluemont Concert Series. Call 777-6306.

Tickets for Homes Tour

Tickets for the 1990 Waterford "Homes Tour and Crafts Exhibit" are on sale this week through Oct. 4. The fair is scheduled for Oct. 5 to Oct. 7. Tickets are available in locations in Loudoun and Fairfax counties and the city of Alexandria, and through Ticketron outlets in the Washington, Richmond and Baltimore areas. Trip to Outlet Center

The Loudoun Valley Community Center will sponsor a shopping trip Saturday to the Blue Ridge Outlet Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.. The bus leaves from Douglass Community Center in Leesburg at 8:45 a.m. and stops at the Loudoun Valley Community Center in Purcellville at 9:15 a.m. The fare is $3.50. Call 338-4122.

Artists' Studio Tour

The Loudoun Arts Council is still accepting applications from artists who wish to open their studios for its third annual studio tour. The tour will take place in the first week of November and will feature artists living in eastern Loudoun and Middleburg.
