Area Artists Sought For Glen Echo Show
Area artists have until Tuesday to sign up to exhibit their work in the 20th annual Labor Day Art Show in the Spanish Ballroom at Glen Echo Park, 7300 MacArthur Blvd. in Glen Echo.
The show will feature sculpture, crafts, watercolors, oils, prints and pottery.
The exhibition will open with a reception from 7 to 9 p.m. on Aug. 31. The artwork will be shown from noon to 6 p.m. Sept. 1-3.

SE Candidates' Forum
A forum for candidates for the D.C. congressional delegate and at-large D.C. Council seats will be held from 7 to 9:30 p.m. today at Pennsylvania Avenue Baptist Church, 3000 Pennsylvania Ave. SE.
The forum is sponsored by Southeast Neighbors Inc., Advisory Neighborhood Commission 7B, several civic associations and the Ministerial Group of Southeast.
A roundtable discussion titled "An African-Centered Approach to Life and Education" will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Reeves Municipal Center at 14th and U streets NW.
The free discussion, sponsored by the Universal Negro Improvement Association and the African Heritage Month Collective, commemorates the 10th annual African Heritage Month.
There also will be a "Heritage Salute to Our Children" from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday to celebrate African Heritage Month. That event will include entertainment for children at the Roots Activity Learning Center, 6200 North Capitol St. NE.
