Drums Beat for 4 Leading the Band
Four Loudoun Valley High School students were named "Most Outstanding Squad" at the recent Mid-Atlantic Band Camp for leadership and drum major training. They are Liana Fredley, Clover Lambert, Jennifer Turner and Lennaya Woodson. The squad also won first place in the marching commands and execution division and third place in the salute division.
Sterling Student Honored
Kelli E. Miller, of Sterling, was awarded two scholarships for top chemistry students at Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Va. She will receive the Earl G. Insley Chi Beta Phi Memorial Scholarship and the Roy Seldon Cook Scholarship, with a combined worth of $1,000 for the coming academic year. Miller, a 1987 graduate of Broad Run High School, is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and a former student trainee at the U.S. Geological Survey in Reston.
Crovo Named to Board
Kenneth L. Crovo, of Leesburg, was named to the board of directors of the Northern Virginia Community College Educational Foundation Inc. The foundation helps to raise money for community college programs in Northern Virginia. Crovo is president and chief executive officer of the Bank of Loudoun in Leesburg.
New School Appointment
The Loudoun County School Board has appointed Patricia D. McGinly assistant principal at Rolling Ridge Elementary in Sterling. McGinly comes from Fairfax County, where she taught third and fourth grade. She has a bachelor's degree from St. Joseph College and a master's degree from the University of Virginia.
