Circus Coming to Sterling
Lions and tigers and bears! And high-wire acts, and elephants, and clowns will come to Sterling Tuesday and Wednesday with the Clyde Beatty Cole Bros. Circus. The circus, sponsored by the Sterling/Herndon Knights of Columbus #6175, will take place at Cascades, the development next to the Loudoun campus of the Northern Virginia Community College on Route 7. Performances will be at 4:30 and 8 p.m. daily. Tickets are $9 for adults, and $4 for children age 12 and younger. Tickets are on sale at the Jamesway, 253 Harry Flood Byrd Hwy. (Route 7) in Sterling. The public is invited to watch a herd of elephants raise the big top from 7 a.m. to noon Tuesday. Admission to the tent-raising is free. Call 777-7504.

Loudoun Library Fund-Raiser
The Loudoun County Library Foundation will hold its annual fund-raising gala from 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 9 at Whitehall Farm near Bluemont. Youths from the county's four high schools will be honored, and local authors will make presentations. The cost is $20 per person, $35 per couple. Reservations are needed by Wednesday. Call 777-0368.
The Sterling Foundation's recycling committee's next collection date will be Sept. 15 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Seneca Ridge Middle School. There will be no collection this weekend. The Park View High School collection site continues to be open daily, and is the foundation's preferred drop-off point for newspapers.
Sky Meadows Schedule
This weekend at Sky Meadows State Park: a display of bird and animal artifacts from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday; a campfire from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday; a display of 19th-century toys Sunday from 2 to 3:30 p.m.; a moonlight walk from 8 to 9 p.m. Sunday and a demonstration of silhouette-making from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Monday. Oatlands Draft Horse and Mule Day
Oatlands Plantation will sponsor its annual Draft Horse and Mule Day from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the plantation on Route 15 between Leesburg and Route 50. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for children ages 7 to 12 and free for children under 7. Call 777-3174.

The Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce has scheduled a breakfast seminar for small businesses from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Leesburg Best Western. Sterling Teen Programs
