Three D.C. men were shot and killed within 24 hours in the District, police said yesterday.

In the latest slaying, Abdul B. Raheem, 49, of the 400 block of Franklin Street NE, was found shot to death inside a van in the 1900 block of Gallaudet Street NE yesterday afternoon.

Witnesses told police they heard about five shots shortly after 5 p.m. The side doors of the van, which has D.C. plates, were open. A police dog was brought in to help search for a suspect, but none was found.

On Friday, police found Tommie Darnell Mackall, 18, in the second-floor hallway of a building in the 900 block of Varney Street SE.

Police said Mackall, of the 2300 block of Ainger Place SE, had been shot several times shortly before 8:30 p.m..

About 9 p.m. Friday, James Allen Long, 47, was found lying in an alley behind the unit block of New York Avenue NE.

Police said Allen, who lived on the 1400 block of Irving Street NW, had been shot in the back of the head.

Both men were pronounced dead by the Medical Examiner's Office. Police said they had no suspects, and knew of no motive, in either of those slayings.
