Hospital to Help Stop Your Smoking

Loudoun Hospital Center will offer "Smokeless," a stop-smoking program beginning at 7:30 p.m. Monday. The classes will be held at the Loudoun Healthcare Health Education Center in Countryside and will continue on Oct. 22 through 25, Oct. 29 and Nov. 1 and 5. Call 771-2918.

Youth Suicide Workshop The Loudoun County Youth Suicide Prevention Coalition will sponsor a workshop on "Teenage Suicide and Depression" from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. tomorrow at the Fire and Rescue Training Center, Courage Court, Leesburg. Fall Turkey Shoots The Arcola-Pleasant Valley Volunteer Fire Department is continuing its fall turkey shoots every Friday evening through December. Turkey shoots will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. at the fire station, which is on Route 659, one mile north of Route 50. Call 327-2222.

They're Off! Again Loudoun's racing season continues Saturday with the 11th running of the Morven Park Steeplechase. Post time for the six-race event is 1:30 p.m. and the gates open at 11:30 a.m. Admission is $20 a car or $10 a person. Call 777-2414.

Lovettsville Craft Fair The Ladies Auxiliary of the Lovettsville Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor its annual craft fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the fire station. Admission is 25 cents for adults and free for children 12 and younger.

School Open House An information session for Loudoun eighth-graders interested in attending the Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Sterling Middle School. An open house at the school, which is at 6560 Braddock Rd., in Fairfax County, will be from 8 to 9 p.m. Oct. 24. The school enrolls students from Loudoun and other Northern Virginia jurisdictions who have a special aptitude for, and an interest in, pursuing intensive college preparation in math, science, engineering or related fields. Oatlands Exhibition The 11th annual needlework exhibition at Oatlands Plantation opens tomorrow and runs through Oct. 21. Highlights include demonstrations of piece work and a display of antebellum ball gowns. The exhibition is open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
