Program to Combat Teenage Pregnancy
The Greater Prince William Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Coalition and the Prince William County Community Services Board will conduct an after-school program called Teens in Action geared toward adolescent females at the middle school level. The first session will be held from 2:45 to 4 p.m. Monday at Grace Metz School in Manassas. The program is free and parental permission is required. Call 335-7730.
Quantico 10K Run
The Quantico Officers' Wives' Club is sponsoring the Second Annual 10K Run/2 Mile Family Walk for scholarships to benefit military dependents in this area at 9 a.m. Saturday on the trails at Quantico's Officer Candidate School. The entry fee is $12 for the 10K and $7 for the two-mile walk. There also is a category for four-person teams and the fee is $35. Call 640-6319 or 643-2150.
Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church will hold its annual Octoberfest at 8 p.m. Saturday at its parish center. Donations are $10 and include drinks and snacks. A band will provide entertainment. Call 494-2444 for ticket information.
Shakespeare at School
Osbourn Park High School will present William Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew" at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the school. The National Players, the repertory company of the National Theater, will perform the play. Tickets are $4 and can be purchased by calling the school at 361-1101.
Quilters to Meet
The Cabin Branch Quilters will hold their first sewing and service social at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Bethel United Methodist Church in Woodbridge. Lap quilts for children staying at the Turning Point will be made. Call 878-2742.
Money Management Help
The Prince William County Extension Homemakers, Cooperative Extension Service and the American Association of Retired Persons will offer a six-session workshop from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday evenings beginning Oct. 24 at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Woodbridge. The program is designed to provide information on financial management for midlife and for older women. Census Bureau statistics show that 97 percent of all women will spend at least some portion of their adult lives alone. The sessions are open to anyone interested in learning to take charge of their money. The Women's Financial Information Program will include sessions on how to get organized, build financial security and create a budget. There is a $20 registration fee that covers the cost of a money management workbook and other materials. For registration information, call 335-6285.
The Castaways Repertory Theater Company will perform "Nightwatch" at 8 p.m. this Saturday, and Oct. 26 and 27 and Nov. 2 and 3 at Godwin Middle School. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens. Call 680-5219.
