DAVIS FORD ROAD

Question: Shall Prince William County, Virginia, contract a debt and issue its general obligation bonds in the maximum amount of $43 million for the purpose of paying the costs, in whole or in part, of right-of-way acquisition, design and construction of an alternate alignment of Davis Ford Road consistent with Alignment B as approved by the Board of Supervisors at its June 5, 1990 meeting in the Davis Road corridor between Hoadly Road and Liberia Avenue and to make certain safety improvements to existing Davis Ford Road?

Explanation: This bond is posed as a solution to allow relief from rush hour traffic congestion between Hoadly Road and Liberia Avenue. Additionally, safety improvements would be made to the existing Davis Ford Road.

Opposition to the bond cites the location of the alignment and the impact to sensitive rural area. Other concerns raised look at the current financial situation and forecast of falling revenue.
