Annual Auction Will Benefit Loudoun Country Day School

The 12th annual auction to benefit Loudoun Country Day School will take place at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Virginia National Guard Armory on Sycolin Road in Leesburg. The event begins with a silent auction, followed by dinner at 7:30 p.m. and a live auction at 9 p.m. Admission is $40, and reservations are required. Call 777-3841.

5K Race Scheduled

Springwood Psychiatric Center will sponsor a 5K race at 10 a.m. Nov. 17 at Springwood. Advance entries, which cost $10, are due tomorrow. At the gate, entries cost $12 and will be accepted from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Call 777-0800, ext. 707.

Philomont Fire Department Brunch

The Philomont Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary will sponsor a brunch from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the fire department. The menu will include biscuits, scrambled eggs, ham, sausage, baked apples, coffee and juice. The price is $5 for adults, $3 for children ages 4 to 12 and free for children 3 and younger.

Art Show and Auction

Algonkian Elementary School and the Heisman Fine Arts Gallery will sponsor an art show and auction at the school, 20196 Carter Ct., Sterling. A one-hour preview of the art begins at 7 p.m. Admission is $5 and includes refreshments. Call 430-1029.

Civil War Discussion

Stroke Support Group

Blue Ridge Speech and Hearing Center of Loudoun County will hold its first stroke support group meeting at 7 tonight at the center's office, 2 Cardinal Park Dr., Suite 102-B, Leesburg. The group is for stroke survivors and their families and friends. Call 777-5050.

Song and Dance Man

Choral, Organ Concerts

Music in the Valley presents its second concert at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Purcellville. The Renaissance Rascals, a small chamber choral group directed by Hamilton resident James Moon, will present works by French, English and Italian composers. In addition, several local organ soloists will play works by Bach, Karg-Elert and Reger. Admission is free.

Seneca Ridge Recycling

Children's Theater Debut

FUN Theatre, a new children's theater group organized by Leesburg residents Martha Lynch and Alice McCree and Sterling resident Laura Frantz, will present its first performance at 8 p.m. tomorrow at J.L. Simpson Middle School in Leesburg. The show is "Oliver!" and features more than 90 children and 30 adults. Additional performances are at 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.
