3 Officers Promoted
Prince William Police Chief Charlie Dean has promoted Officers John Buttner, James Moore and Anthony Spencer to the rank of investigator.
Buttner has been with the department since 1983 and has been assigned to the Operations Division in the Western District. He will be reassigned to investigate crimes against property in the Eastern District.
Moore joined the department in 1980 and has also served in the Operations Division in the Western District. He is a crime scene technician.
Spencer joined the force six years ago after serving in the Army as a military police officer. He has worked with the Operations Division in the Eastern District, the Vice and Narcotics Bureau and the Tactical Squad.
He will assume new responsibilities in the Crimes Against Property Section in the Eastern District.
Hall of Famer Recognized
Marshall Johnson has been recognized by the Manassas School Board for his induction into the Virginia High School League's Hall of Fame on Oct. 17.
Johnson graduated from Osbourn High School and attended Washington and Lee University. He spent 40 years with the Richmond-Times Dispatch as a sportswriterand was considered the dean of high school sportswriters in Virginia.
He has been honored by the Virginia High School League, the Virginia High School Coaches Association, the Virginia High School Athletic Directors Association and many other high school sports organizations.
Group Elects Officers
Action in Community Through Service recently elected officers and new members to its 1991 Board of Directors.
The newly elected officers are Harold Deadman, president; David Bohannon and Karen Smith, vice presidents; Kathy Turnquist, recording secretary; Dick Zinn, corresponding secretary; and Howard Horner, treasurer. Doris Armstrong, Frank Lasch, the Rev. Diane Prevary Lytle, Rob Mouw and Jo Ellen Vernali-Knoerl also were elected to three-year terms on the board.
The organization also honored volunteers who contributed extensive hours of service. The honorees were Margaret Ausley, Greg Wood, Mary Ann Glen and the Caseman family -- Chris, Nancy, Jessica and Cathy.
