An unidentified man was shot dead in the snow last night on a quiet block of row houses on Marion Street NW, police officials said.

The man was found shot in the head and chest about 8:45 p.m. near the corner of Marion and P streets NW, police said. He was taken to Howard University Hospital and pronounced dead about 9:30.

Police found a handgun a block away at Seventh and O streets NW and said it may have been used in the slaying. They did not release information about motive or suspects in the incident.

Police last night also were investigating the shooting death of a man found on the 800 block of Chesapeake Street SE early yesterday morning.

A detective said the man, whose name was not released, was shot on the 800 block of Southern Avenue SE on the Prince George's County line shortly after midnight. He apparently ran to nearby Chesapeake Street in the Washington Highlands neighborhood of Anacostia.

Police said they had no suspects or motive in either shooting.

Also yesterday, police were trying to identify a woman whose body was found in the 1900 block of 11th Street NW Wednesday night. The woman, who had been severely beaten, was about 20 years old. She was found about 11 p.m.
