At a meeting Jan. 3, ANC 6A did the following: Supported a BZA application by Feyoum and Betty Gebrehiwot to add a delicatessen to a grocery store at 1250 C St. NE.Supported a BZA application by Richards Limited Partnership to create five additional parking spaces for handicapped drivers at Greater Northeast Medical Center at 1647 Benning Rd. NE.Opposed an application to the D.C. Historic Preservation and Review Board by the National Taxpayers Union to build seven parking spaces at 713 Maryland Ave. NE.Appointed Commissioner Carolyn Serfass to testify at a city hearing on school funding.

D.C. Council member Harold Brazille (D-Ward 6) announced that he is the new chairman of the council's labor committee, which deals with employment and workmen's compensation issues, and that he will be a member of the council's committee dealing with public works, education and D.C. statehood.

At a meeting Jan. 10, ANC 6A elected the following officers to one-year terms: Craig Lisk, chairman; Herbert Harris Jr., vice chairman; Virginia Gaddis, secretary; Carolyn Serfass, treasurer.

At a meeting Jan. 8, ANC 6B did the following: Elected Commissioner Karen Walker chairperson for 1991. Election of other officers was deferred to the Jan. 22 meeting.Supported an agreement between Herb Lehner and residents of the 600 block of D Street SE regarding Lehner's ABC application for a liquor license for a new restaurant at 633 Pennsylvania Ave. SE. Under the agreement, Lehner is required to control any noise and odor problems.Received a report from D.C. police captain Robert Noyes and sergeant Wally Bradford regarding a Jan. 3 shooting on Pennsylvania Ave. SE and other crimes committed in the neighborhood. In the recent incident, Kenneth Goshorn, 46, of Riverdale, was fatally wounded while driving his car. Commissioners also endorsed holding a vigil or another appropriate observance every time there is a murder in the community.
