One man was killed and three other people were wounded last night in four separate shootings in the District in less than an hour, police reported. The slaying was one of four in the area during the weekend.
The latest homicide victim, who was not immediately identified, was shot about 10 p.m. in a row house in the 1000 block of W Street NW, police said. They said they were looking for a man for questioning.
In the second shooting last night, a 15-year-old youth was struck twice in the legs at Bladensburg Road and Levis Street NE about 10:30 p.m. by shots fired from a car, police said. Within 15 minutes, a man was shot in the leg in the 2100 block of Savannah Terrace SE, and a man was shot in the arm and shoulder near Virginia Avenue and K Street SE.
Earlier yesterday, D.C. police charged two Northwest men with murder in the death of a 24-year-old Temple Hills man in an early morning shootout outside a Howard University student residence. The incident also left three men wounded.
Police said Quinton D. Green, 22, and Anthony Cooper, 19, who live at the same address in the 900 block of O Street NW, have been charged with second-degree murder. The dead man was identified as Ricardo D. Wagstaff, of the 2600 block of Kenton Place.
According to police, the shooting began after a near-collision of two cars at Barry Place and Ninth Street NW. Occupants of both cars fired guns, police said. An off-duty D.C. police officer who had parked his car nearby intervened and was fired upon, police said.
Green, who was wounded in the arm, was taken to Howard University Hospital, police said. Police would not release the names of the other two wounded men.
In the Montgomery County slaying, the county's first this year, police said that Santos Rios, of West Deer Park Road in Gaithersburg, was found dead about 9 a.m yesterday in a clump of trees behind Gaithersburg Elementary School.
Prince George's County police also were investigating a homicide, but would give no other details.
Also in Montgomery County, police said a 21-year-old Silver Spring woman was kidnapped from her home in the 11600 block of Lockwood Drive early yesterday and taken to Nelson County, Va., where her throat was slit and she was stabbed in the abdomen.
The woman, whom police would not identify, underwent surgery at a Charlottesville area hospital. Montgomery police said Nelson County authorities issued warrants for two men, one of whom they described as the woman's ex-boyfriend.
