Hispanic Panel Elected

The Hispanic Task Force, a joint effort by Manassas, Manassas Park and Prince William County, recently elected the following officers: Loy Harris, chairman; Betty Smelser, vice chairman; Joann Provo, secretary; Carol Bass, member at-large; and Guadalupe Gibson, member at-large. The task force will serve as a source of information for Spanish-speaking residents hampered by limited English-language skills. The group will produce a monthly flyer providing information on language classes, church services and other resources available.

County Praises Park Volunteers The Prince William County Park Authority recognized 26 residents for outstanding contributions and efforts in furthering recreation during 1990. The following residents were selected for commendation in appreciation for their volunteerism to public recreation and the community: Laurie Axford, Fran Blevens, Charlie Cook, Rick Fitzgerald, Ken Grymala, Charles Lapihuska, Dawn Munson, Spotlight Dance Company, John Walvius, Paul Baebler, Mary Campbell, John Emilienburg, Gail Galentino, Lynda Grymala, Willie Lemay, Brian Page, Dennis Stewart, Lynn Wilbur, Jackie Bell, Katherine Chambers, Beverly Femino, Dave Govoni, Liz Kuykendall, Rick Mindock, Fan Phoenix and Carol Wakefield.

Manassas Park Teacher Honored Manassas Park High School's Lynn Rushdi was selected as the city's Teacher of the Month last month. Rushdi, in her 14th year at the school, teaches food service and family life education courses. She is a member of LEAD, a special leadership committe set up by the Virginia Department of Education. She is a sponsor of the school's Cougar Country Courier Club, FHA-Hero and the Class of 1991.
