An unidentified man was fatally shot early yesterday morning near Dupont Circle, one of four slayings in the District over the last three days. They raised the number of District homicides to 46 so far this year, compared with 55 at this time last year.
The latest shooting occurred about 1:40 a.m. yesterday near New Hampshire Avenue and T Street NW. Police said the man, whom they declined to identify until relatives are notified, had been shot in the face.
He was taken to Howard University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:23 a.m.
Police said they have no motive or suspects.
About 2:40 a.m. Sunday, a 28-year-old man was found lying in the 3400 block of 11th Street NW suffering from apparent stab wounds to the upper body, police said.
Harold William White, of the 1100 block of Lamont Street NW, was taken to Washington Hospital Center, where he died at 3:50 a.m.
Police said they had arrested Lionel Frederick Meredith, of the 3800 block of Ida Court in Forestville, and charged him with murder.
The other two slayings occurred on Saturday, the first about 7 a.m.
Darrell Blaine, of the 1100 block of Elmira Street SW, was found in the 1400 block of Bruce Place SE with a gunshot wound in the chest. He was pronounced dead at 7:48 a.m. at D.C. General Hospital. Police said they had no motives or suspects.
Police arrested a 22-year-old Northwest man Saturday in a slaying that took place in his home that afternoon.
Gerald James, of the unit block of U Street NW, was charged with second-degree murder in the death of Robert Clarence Brown.
Police said Brown, 50, of the unit block of Crittenden Street NE, died as a result of a blow to the head at the U Street address. He was declared dead at the Office of D.C. Medical Examiner.
