The Loudoun County Department of Parks and Recreation is holding a series of classes introducing children ages 18 to 24 months to art materials. The classes will be held every other Monday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. beginning Feb. 18. An adult must stay with each child. The fee for the seven-week program is $14. Calling All Singers and Musicians
A talent contest for aspiring musicians is being sponsored by the Leesburg Host Lions Club at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at J.L. Simpson Middle School in Leesburg. Winners in the vocal and instrumental categories will be awarded cash prizes and will be eligible to compete in a regionwide contest in April. Women's Shelter Needs Volunteers
Training sessions for anyone interested in helping out at the Loudoun Abused Women's Shelter, a private, nonprofit organization that helps abused women and their children, are being held from 7 to 10 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23. Valentine's Day Slumber Party at the Y
The Loudoun County YMCA is throwing a Valentine's Day overnight party for children ages 6 to 12. There will be an evening of roller skating at the rink, games, a Valentine swap and a late-night movie. An evening snack and breakfast will be served. The party will be held from 7 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday at the YMCA Program Center in Leesburg. The fee is $17 and preregistration is required. Call the Y at 777-9622.
