Four Teens Charged With Forging Money

Four Northern Virginia teenagers have been charged with forging U.S. currency, which investigators allege they made on a home computer and tried to pass last week in the McLean High School cafeteria, Fairfax County police said.

The boys, three 14-year-olds from McLean and a 15-year-old from Falls Church, were arrested after an attempt was made to pass a fake $20 bill, police said.

14-Year-Old Made Bomb Threat, Police Say

A 14-year-old Lorton area youth was arrested Thursday and charged with making a bomb threat after security cameras outside a convenience store taped someone making a call to 911 about Hayfield Secondary School, Fairfax County police said.

Police said the 10:30 a.m. call warned that the school would blow up in minutes. They said the arrest came after the call was traced to a public phone at a 7-Eleven in the 9400 block of Richmond Highway and surveillance footage was reviewed.


Police Officer Faces Sexual Assault Charges

A D.C. police officer was arraigned in D.C. Superior Court yesterday on six charges of sexual assault, including first-degree child sexual abuse while armed.

Derrick A. Brown, 30, was indicted last week. He entered pleas of not guilty before Judge Ann O'Regan Keary. A July 26 trial date was set. The indictment charges that Brown sexually assaulted a female occupant of a car after a traffic stop in October and another in January. Brown joined the force in July 1990 and worked as a patrol officer in the 1st District. He has been suspended without pay pending the outcome of the charges, a police spokesman said.

Grand Jury Indicts Pastor on Sex Charges

A federal grand jury yesterday indicted a former substitute teacher who is pastor of Seat Pleasant Baptist Church on 35 counts of interstate transportation of a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity and one count of possession of child pornography.

Kenneth "Atlantis" Long, 34, will be arraigned Wednesday. The indictment was announced by U.S. Attorney Wilma A. Lewis. The indictment alleges that Long, a former substitute teacher in Alexandria and the District, transported two minors from Virginia to his District home for the purpose of sexual activity.


Teen Sexually Assaulted 2 Boys, Police Say

A 14-year-old Waldorf youth was arrested Thursday afternoon and charged with sexually abusing two young boys in a local park, the Charles County sheriff's office said yesterday.

The boys apparently were approached near a playground in the Smallwood neighborhood of Waldorf. Police allege that on several occasions between Sept. 1, 1998, and April 26, a 10-year-old Waldorf boy was lured to a remote spot nearby and sexually assaulted. On April 26, a resident reported to authorities that he saw another Waldorf boy, age 9, being assaulted in a wooded area near the park.

Man Charged With Exposing Self to Children

A Gaithersburg man has been arrested on charges of exposing himself to eight children in Rockville neighborhoods over the past six months, police said.

Lorento Alexander Couch, 22, was charged Thursday with eight counts of indecent exposure. Rockville police said Couch exposed himself in the window of his van in the Woodley Gardens and West End neighborhoods, most recently in April.
