Breezy Point to Clean Marina

Breezy Point Marina, on the Chesapeake Bay in Calvert County, is the 60th marina in Maryland to sign a clean marina pledge under a Department of Natural Resources anti-pollution effort.

Breezy Point owner and manager Michael Strandquist promised to implement measures to control pollution associated with vessel maintenance and repair, petroleum storage, sewage disposal, storm water runoff and hazardous wastes.

The goal of the DNR program is to certify 25 percent of the state's 600 marinas by 2004. To achieve certification, marinas must adopt several pollution prevention measures endorsed by the program.

Cable Programming Explained

Jones Communications, which provides cable television service in Calvert and Charles counties in Southern Maryland, said that the recent change in programming on WTMW-TV, Channel 14, was the sole decision of the station's management.

Channel 14 recently changed its affiliation from America's Store (home shopping) to the Military Channel.

Under federal "must-carry" rules, Jones said in a statement, the cable service is required to include the Channel 14 signal and has no control over the station's programming.
