Woman Is Named Ms. Senior Virginia

Joyce Clautice, of Alexandria, has been named this year's Ms. Senior Virginia. The pageant was held last month at Fairfax High School as part of Older Virginians Week. She will represent the state at the national championship in Las Vegas in September.

Clautice, 61, was chosen from a field of 13 contestants. A retired elementary school teacher and the mother of four, Clautice performed a ballet during the pageant, modeled an evening gown and shared her philosophy of life: "If your mind can receive it, then your heart can believe it and then your body can achieve it."

This is Clautice's second time participating in the pageant; last year, she was the first runner-up.
