Class: 1999 Graduate
Highlights: Qualified to compete in the 50-, 100-, 200- and 500-meter freestyle events at the Junior National Championships in St. Louis, which were held the week of March 21. For the past two years, has been named Maryland Swimmer of the Year by the Maryland Swimming Board, which is part of United States Swimming, the national governing body of the sport.
Notable: Swam the 100-meter freestyle in 55.09 seconds June 19, setting a pool record in the Smallwood Village Swim Club's season-opening meet in St. Charles. He was the only triple winner in the 15-18 boys age group, also capturing the 50 butterfly and 100 individual medley titles. Zuiderhof has been on the Prince-Mont League team for two years.
Personal: Committed to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison this fall on a two-thirds athletic scholarship that will be reevaluated every year. Carried a 4.3 grade-point average at McDonough.
Class: Senior in the fall
Highlights: Has earned 13 varsity letters and qualified for states in cross-country (1997-98), indoor track (1997-99) and track (1998-99). Selected All-Extra honorable mention for soccer and cross-country in 1998. Adams also was named to the Maryland under-17 Olympic Development Program (ODP) soccer team this year.
Notable: Last week, she attended the University of Florida Elite Soccer Camp, which took only 75 players from around the country who have been members of ODP and successful select soccer teams. Adams played in the 4v4 championship game and also was invited to play in the game against the University of Florida women's team. She also plays for the Waldorf Piranhas, which won the Washington Area Girls Soccer Division 1 Championship this spring.
Personal: Has been an All-SMAC academic athlete and Maryland "Minds in Motion" athlete all three years of high school.
