Bank to Acquire Branch

Century Bancshares Inc. reached an agreement this week with One Valley Bank to acquire a branch in Dumfries.

Century will pay One Valley a premium of about $126,000 for the branch, which had $5.7 million in loans and $9.8 million in deposits as of March 31.

The transaction, which is subject to regulatory approval, is expected to be completed early in the fourth quarter. This will be Century's first branch in Prince William County.

Bar Association's 1st Chief

The Prince William County Bar Association has hired Alissa N. Hudson as its first executive director.

Hudson will create and implement programs focusing on public relations, community outreach, business development and membership recruitment and retention.

Hudson spent nine years as a volunteer coordinator for community service organizations, serving on executive boards and raising money to benefit the area's needy.

Firm Grabs a Seat on 'Net

NextDayChair.com, based in Woodbridge, announced its grand opening June 17 on the Internet. The online company sells ergonomically correct office chairs. The chairs can be ordered through its Web site or by phone, at 366-3854.

Foundation Leader Honored

James Waggener, president of the Woodbridge Foundation Inc., received the 1999 Environmental Stewardship Award and the Conservation Award given by the Virginia Society of Ornithology.

Waggener was instrumental in founding the Occoquan Bay National Wildlife Refuge and Prince William Natural Resources Council.

Chamber Power Lunch

The Prince William Regional Chamber of Commerce will hold a Dialogue 2000Plus session at noon Wednesday at Montclair Golf, Tennis & Swim Club.

Topic leaders for the lunch will include William Moss, president of Potomac Hospital; Del. John A. "Jack" Rollison III (R-District 52); James Waggener, president of the Woodbridge Foundation Inc.; and Michael Campbell, president of Partnership Prince William.
