Florence L. Randall

Child Care Provider

Florence L. Randall, 65, a native Washingtonian who had worked as a caregiver for children in the Alexandria neighborhood where she lived since 1958, died of cancer July 1 at her home.

Mrs. Randall was a homemaker who had worked as a caregiver since the early 1980s. She was a member of Beverley Hills Community United Methodist Church in Alexandria and a volunteer at the church nursery.

She also helped distribute the church newsletter.

Her husband of 43 years, Jimmy B. Randall, died in 1994. Survivors include three children, Valerie Hamilton of Atlanta, Michael Randall of Alexandria and Kim Savage of Fairfax; and seven grandchildren.

Edward Murray McPherson

Home Repairman

Edward Murray McPherson, 70, who had been self employed as a home repairman since moving to this area in 1980, died of kidney disease June 26 at Inova Alexandria Hospital.

Mr. McPherson, who lived in Alexandria, was born in Ontario, Canada.

He sold electronic appliances and products in London, Ontario, before moving to this area.

His marriage to Sheri McPherson ended in divorce.

Survivors include his wife, Sunok McPherson of Alexandria; and three children from his first marriage, Desta McPherson, David McPherson and Dwayne McPherson, all of Victoria, B.C.

Margaret June Damer

School Cafeteria Manager

Margaret June Damer, 76, a retired Fairfax County school cafeteria manager, died of complications from cancer June 30 at her home in Annandale.

Mrs. Damer, a native of Arlington, worked more than 20 years before retiring in the early 1970s.

She spent all but a few years at Annandale Elementary School.

Survivors include her husband, Darrel Stratford Damer of Annandale; three children, Darrel Willis Damer of Flint Hill, Va., Margaret Elaine Beverly of Marshall, and Pamela Kay Damer of Burnsville, Minn.; a sister; a brother; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
