Evelyn D. Kline, 94, a Washington native and longtime Bethesda resident, died of congestive heart failure July 4 at a nursing home in Charleston, S.C. She moved to Charleston in 1998.

Mrs. Kline graduated from Central High School in 1922. In 1932, she moved to Bethesda, where she was a homemaker. She worked as a rental office administrator for Bogley Real Estate during the late 1960s. Mrs. Kline was a former president of the Women's Club of Bethesda and volunteered in its thrift shop.

Her husband, W. Merle Kline, died in 1968.

Survivors include a son, William M. Kline Jr. of Seabrook Island, S.C.; and four grandchildren.

Shirley M. Lindsay

Administrative Assistant

Shirley M. Lindsay, 68, an Alexandria resident who retired in 1992 after 15 years as an administrative assistant in the Navy Department's office of personnel, died of an aneurysm June 30 at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital.

Mrs. Lindsay, who also did volunteer work for the Lions Club in Alexandria, was a native of Buffalo. She moved to the Washington area in 1979.

Her husband, Larry Lindsay, died in 1978.

Survivors include two daughters, Susan Hutchins of Fort Myers, Fla., and Peggy Anne Vega of Ansonia, Conn.; a sister, Marilyn Shaffer of Alexandria; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
