Heart Association Says Thanks

The 1998-99 American Heart Association Annual Awards Celebration honored community leaders and local businesses as outstanding volunteers in Prince William County.

The businesses honored included Dominion Semiconductor LLC, GTE Corp., Hylton Foundation and the Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative. The companies donated $6,000 among them, which paid for 60 HeartPower kits to area students, teaching them the importance of heart health.

New Trustee on Health System Board

Alice Jones was reappointed to the board of trustees for the Prince William Health System. Jones served as a trustee of Prince William Hospital from October 1997 to April 1999. She left the board when the health system and hospital boards reorganized.

Jones will replace trustee Gary DeRosa, who stepped down in June.

Jones is former president of the Prince William I-66 Partnership, chairman for the Commission on Violent Crime in Prince William County and Greater Manassas, and co-chairman of the Community Information and Education Coalition.

ABC Staffing Opens Sterling Branch

ABC Staffing Services, with branches in Manassas and Woodbridge, just opened an outlet in Sterling. The Sterling branch, 22330 Sterling Blvd., will provide all ABC services, which include placing temps, permanent workers, part-time workers and temp-to-hire.

Chamber Get-Together With Cannons

The Prince William Regional Chamber of Commerce will hold a business after hours event tomorrow at Pfitzner Stadium from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The Potomac Cannons are providing a complimentary pregame cookout for chamber members, their employees and families.

Chamber Dinner Theater Outing

The regional chamber's Lunch Brunch, a monthly networking opportunity, is holding a dinner Friday at the Lazy Susan Dinner Theatre, at the corner of Route 1 and Furnace Road.

"Shenandoah" is playing and reservations can be made by calling the Lazy Susan at 703-550-7384. To receive the discounted price of $25, callers need to identify themselves as chamber members.
