Practice Expands With Addition of Podiatrist

Podiatrist Gary Arminio is joining the practice of Raymond Lower and Ashfaq Hasan at Countryside Orthopaedics, and the three will form the Loudoun County Foot and Ankle Institute for the treatment of complex foot and ankle disorders.

Arminio received his medical degree from the Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine in New York. He was a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.

Countryside Orthopaedics was founded in 1993 and now has offices at Lansdowne and the Loudoun Valley Medical Center in Purcellville.

Orthopaedic Surgeon Joins Sterling Practice

Paul T. Mecherikunnel, who trained at the Johns Hopkins Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, will join Randall S. Peyton at Arthritis and Sports Orthopaedics, of Sterling. Mecherikunnel has a specialty in hand surgery.

Tourism Council Gets Six New Officers

The Loudoun Tourism Council has elected a new president and added five board members, Executive Director Cheryl Kilday announced.

The new president is Lois R. DeMeester, president of Destination Sales and Marketing Group Ltd. in Sterling, her own transportation and tourism marketing company.

The new board members are: Peter Abrahams, publisher of Washington Flyer magazine and general manager of Washington Airport Media; Lisa Blackwell, executive director of the Waterford Foundation; John W. Ryan, former chief executive of several higher education and medical associations; Katie Sheldon Hammler, a high-tech marketing professional and senior director of public relations for Alcatel; and Anthony J. Beatty, financial analyst for Aramark Conference Center Management, an organization that helps manage Xerox Document University in Leesburg.
