Notable: She will travel with the Southern Maryland Merchants, an ASA team, to Charlotte, N.C., tomorrow to participate in the NSA World Series. JAMIE EMERY

CHOPTICON

Class: 1992 graduate.

Sport: Motorcycle racing.

Highlights: He placed third in 1993 in the Pro-Fuel bike division of the All Harley Drag Racing Association. In 1996, Emery moved up to Nitro Methane Top Fuel Harleys and placed sixth in the AHDRA in '96 and 11th the next season. Last season, in the International Hot Rod Association, Emery placed seventh.

Notable: Last weekend, Emery advanced to the semifinals of the AHDRA eighth annual Mid-Atlantic Harley-Davidson Nationals in dramatic fashion. After winning his quarterfinal race, Emery realized that he had broken the output shaft in the transmission. With just a half-hour to spare, Emery and his crew tore down and rebuilt the transmission in time for the semifinal race. Emery lost that race to Jim McClure, who is currently sixth in the overall standings.

Personal: Emery is a Colton's Point native and is engaged to be married to Erin Allingham. His racing team is completely family-run.
