New Waterford Foundation Head
Linda Silliman Glidden is the new executive director of the Waterford Foundation and will join the staff Thursday. She held the position from 1992 to 1995, when she left to become executive director of Oatlands Plantation outside Leesburg, a property owned by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
The foundation's charge is to preserve the village of Waterford, a National Historic Trust landmark, and the surrounding agricultural setting that gave rise to Waterford's growth as a commercial center in the 1700s. Glidden, who has degrees in history and planning and urban studies, will concentrate on protecting the village from development pressures.
