Sport: Golf

Highlights: Second-lowest scoring average in the Southern Maryland Athletic Conference last year at 39.75. Two-time first team all-SMAC selection and was named to the 1998 All-Extra team. Shot a conference-low 156 at the state tournament for an 11th-place finish.

Notable: Has played with the Southern Maryland Optimist Club all summer, registering second-place finishes three times. Away from his home course for months, he returned to Wicomico Shores on Friday in preparation for the start of Chopticon's fall practice Monday. Czosek managed a 78 at Wicomico despite bogeying the final two holes.

Personal: Czosek (3.4 grade-point average) spent time this summer traveling, but didn't take a break from golfing. He played on courses around Las Vegas and Tucson, shooting a 74 at Angel Park Golf Club in Las Vegas. The par-71 Angel Park is a regulation course designed by Arnold Palmer.

BETH WHITE

THOMAS STONE

Class: 1999 graduate

Sport: Softball

Highlights: A first team all-Southern Maryland Athletic Conference and All-Extra selection, White is a speedy outfielder who helped the Cougars (17-6) win the 3A South Region title and advance to the state semifinals last season. Batted .330 her senior season with three doubles, two triples and eight RBI.

Notable: White is making her third straight appearance with the Maryland District 7 All-Star team, which has won the Big League World Series the past two years in Kalamazoo, Mich. She will start in left field when the all-stars return to Michigan on Monday to attempt to become the first team in history to win three straight titles.

Personal: Also a member of the Cougars' volleyball team, White split her time last year between sports, the Spanish Club, the Video Yearlook and student government. She is enrolled at Charles County Community College but plans to transfer to the University of Maryland in the spring.
