Clothing, Blood Drive

Laurel Mall will begin its second annual Back-to-School Clothing Drive on Saturday, with a special appearance by personalities from Magic 102.3 FM radio from noon to 2 p.m. at Center Stage on the lower level. The American Red Cross of the Potomac Region also will accept blood donations. The first 102 donors of either clothing or blood will receive a Magic 102 Prize Package.

The clothing drive will continue through Sept. 11. Donations can be dropped off at the mall's customer service desk. The Goodwill Industries' Good Samaritan program will translate the clothing into vouchers worth $40 each, which schools will distribute to needy families in the Laurel area. The blood donations will benefit patients at 84 hospitals and 68 renal dialysis, home transfusion and outpatient centers in the region.

At 2 p.m., Laurel Mall will present a Back-to-School Fashion Show. Shoppers also will be offered a special gift purchase of a robot calculator for every $75 in mall receipts.

Laurel Mall, on Route 1 at Cherry Lane in Laurel, is open 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. For more information on the clothing drive, call Sharon Bellinger at 301-953-3300 or 410-792-0536.
