Starring: QB Orion Canine, WR-DB Marshall Cooper, WR-DB Treaven Wills

Directed By: Jerry Franks (third season)

WHAT'S THE PLOT? The up-and-coming Cavaliers return 19 starters -- nine on offense and 10 on defense.

One of the youngest teams in the SMAC a year ago, this season the Cavaliers should be among the league's best. With 19 returning starters, Calvert has experience. The key is that they also have depth. Leading the offense will be Canine (5-10, 170), who stepped into the starting role early last season and steadily improved. Canine will have his choice of talented targets, led by Cooper, a 5-foot-9, 170-pound returning All-Extra performer who hauled in 13 catches for 226 yards and three touchdowns last year. Other returning receivers include Wills, senior Kirk Ball and senior tight end Brendan Galligan. The Cavaliers are just as experienced on the offensive and defensive lines -- where they possess both size and depth -- as they are at the skill positions. Seven players who started at least one game on the offensive line last season return, led by seniors Justin Cunningham (5-9, 175), Jimmy Kyer (6-2, 220) and Chris Waldron (6-2, 250). Junior Tony Roberts (5-9, 160) and sophomore Rob Henning (6-1, 290) round out what looks to be the Cavaliers' starting offensive line. Henning and Waldron are also two of the team's top defensive linemen, joining senior Jarmon Washington (5-9, 220) and juniors Chris Johnson (5-9, 225) and Durrell Jones (6-2, 210). Fullback Ryan Murphy (5-11, 195) and tailback Art Roberts (5-8, 175) double as the team's starting linebackers, and Cooper and Wills join three-year starter Donique Jones to form a tough secondary unit.
