County Hot Line Opens

A 24-hour hot line--703-876-0526--is now open for comments, suggestions and concerns about Fairfax County government. County officials are encouraging residents to call and voice concerns about ways to increase government efficiency and improve services as well as to report cases of alleged waste, fraud and mismanagement in county government.

Comments will be forwarded to the Board of Supervisors' financial and programs auditor for assessment and investigation. All comments are confidential.

Jobs Fair to Be Held

The Hispanic Committee of Virginia is hosting a jobs fair Sept. 8 and 9 at the Mason District Government Center. Participating companies with a variety of jobs include Account Pros, Dulles Drywall, Georgetown University, Federal Express, Harris Teeter and the McLean Hilton.

The fair will be both days from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the center, 6507 Columbia Pike, in Annandale. For information, call Rigoberto Luis at 703-671-5666, extension 112. Admission is free.

Two Students to Be Honored

The Martin Luther King Jr. Cultural Foundation will hold its college scholarship banquet at 6 p.m. Sept. 10 at the Fairview Park Marriott.

The Reston foundation will honor its first two scholarships recipients, South Lakes High School students Augustus Gyapong and Haywood Richard Hopson. Northern Virginia Community College President Belle Wheelan will be the keynote speaker.

The foundation was established to promote awareness of African American culture and to serve as the primary arm through which Martin Luther King Jr. Christian Church could conduct its social services outreach ministry.
