Starring: RB-LB Raheem Archer, TB-DB Titus Green, RB-LB Dennis Williamson, OL-DL Derek Wright

Directed By: Joe Williams (fifth season)

WHAT'S THE PLOT? The steadily improving Warriors hope Archer and Williamson will keep them headed in the right direction.

Last in the SMAC two years ago and middle-of-the-pack as a young team last season, La Plata appears to be on the rise. The Warriors' explosive running game features seniors Archer (5-10, 195) and Williamson (5-9, 190), who have proved they know how to break through the holes. Joining them is Titus Green, a transfer from Riverdale Baptist two seasons ago. And the great news for La Plata is that all three have the potential to make an impact on both sides of the ball. Green, a free safety, returned an interception 40 yards for a touchdown in the Warriors' opening game last season, and added another interception and eight tackles in an impressive performance against Thomas Stone. Meanwhile, Archer and Williamson double as two of the conference's hardest-hitting linebackers. Seniors Justin King (5-10, 185) and Wright (5-9, 205) are staples of the team's offensive and defensive lines. But the biggest question mark for the Warriors this season: Who will be handing the ball off to Archer & Co. in the backfield? Starting quarterback finalists have been narrowed down to three players, but the coaching staff says the position might be handled by committee in lieu of naming a No. 1 starter. The short list includes juniors Davon Knott and Tyler McConnell and senior Anthony Peace -- the varsity backup last season. McConnell was the starting QB for the junior varsity squad in '98 and Knott has been moved over from running back.
