Starring: RB-WR Tommy Davis, TE-LB David Holcomb, QB Jason Schacter, OL-DL Wyatt Wiggins

Directed By: Mike Egan (second season)

WHAT'S THE PLOT? Schacter, all-conference last year, hopes to make the rebuilding time under Egan a little smoother for the Raiders.

Leonardtown posted four straight winning seasons before its disappointing finish in '98. Unfortunately for the Raiders, this could be another long year. The problem isn't that they don't have any experienced players returning, but that they continue to lack depth at key skill positions. The team's top returner is the 6-foot-1, 165-pound Schacter, an all-SMAC and All-Extra performer at quarterback who completed 50 of 120 passes for 770 yards, 10 touchdowns and four interceptions last season. But the team was dealt a blow with the loss of standout wide receiver Chris Greinert, another All-Extra performer who suffered a knee injury playing basketball in the offseason. Greinert had 15 catches for 280 yards and six touchdowns last season. Davis (6-1, 165), who will see time both coming out of the backfield and lined up at wide receiver, hopes to replace Greinert as Schacter's favorite target. McLeod (6-0, 175) also will help out at the running back position, and both he and Davis will look to lead the team's secondary unit. One of the most solid areas of the team will be the offensive line, which will return four starters. Among them are Wiggins (6-2, 235), a three-year starter, and juniors Derrick Barnes (6-2, 215) and Luke Runyon (6-1, 265), both of whom started as sophomores last year. All three players will double on the defensive line as well. Senior tight end/linebacker Holcomb (5-10, 190) also returns.
