Junior QB Orion Canine completed 4 of 5 passes for 87 yards and a touchdown, and connected for a two-point conversion. Senior WR-DB Treaven Wills caught two passes and had an interception.

Last season's meeting: Did not play

Records: Patuxent 1-0; Leonardtown 0-1

Last game: Patuxent defeated McDonough, 28-7; Leonardtown lost to La Plata, 40-15

Outlook: Patuxent lost RBs Randy Belt and Ryan Naegele from last year's team, but sophomore Terry Caulley seems quite able to pick up the slack. He set a school record Friday in his first varsity start with 270 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries. He could find success again tonight against the Raiders, who yielded 40 points to La Plata in their opener. Five of La Plata's six touchdowns came on the ground. Leonardtown got most of its offense from senior RB-WR Tommy Davis, who scored on an 87-yard kickoff return and a 23-yard pass from all-SMAC QB Jason Schacter. Schacter completed 9 of 17 passes for 104 yards.

Last game: Thomas Stone defeated Chopticon, 34-22; Gwynn Park defeated Lackey, 34-0

Outlook: Despite the 34-22 loss, Chopticon Coach Andy Palko had plenty to smile about after his team's season opener. At the top of the list was junior QB Jamar Mason, who may have appeared over-anxious at times but connected with all-SMAC WR Jamie Byroads eight times for 149 yards and two touchdowns. The two narrowly missed on several other long pass plays.

Outlook: McDonough goes from facing Patuxent RB Terry Caulley (270 yards in the season opener) to Thomas Stone RB Marcus Whalen (an All-Met with 1,934 rushing yards last season and 280 more last week). One of McDonough's strengths is its passing offense, and Thomas Stone gave up 149 yards passing last week. McDonough junior QB Travis Peters completed 4 of 14 passes for 101 yards Friday and backup Marcus Goerdt added one completion for 18 yards. Speedy senior Travis Woodland caught four passes for 73 yards.

Westlake also picked up a defensive score when junior Randy Starks returned a fumble 20 yards for a touchdown.
