Mitre's Room for Growth

Mitre Corp. announced this week that it is expanding its operations in Prince William.

The nonprofit organization, based in Massachusetts, operates federally funded research programs for the Department of Defense, the Federal Aviation Administration and the Internal Revenue Service.

Mitre is enlarging its facility from 9,000 to 16,000 square feet. It expects the expansion will bring new investments totaling more than $3.8 million over 10 years.

Mitre will be expanding its Marine Corps Programs Department Office, which has been providing direct support to the Marines in the Quantico Marine Corps Base since 1993. Today its program provides engineering and integration support for the Marine Corps command and control, communications, computer and surveillance operations.

Computer Learning bought a 69,000-square-foot facility at Prince William Gateway in Manassas. The new investment is estimated at $13 million.
