Second-ranked Hylton used a balanced rushing attack and a handful of big scoring plays to win its 20th straight game, 20-7, at Osbourn Park last night. The Bulldogs are 8-0 all-time against the Yellow Jackets.
Tied at 7 at halftime, Hylton (4-0, 1-0 Cardinal District) put the game away in the third quarter with a 61-yard touchdown run by Karibi DeDe and a 51-yarder by D.J. Walton. DeDe finished with 89 yards on six carries, and Walton posted 72 yards on seven carries. Hylton senior Quintin Beltran led all rushers with 91 yards on six carries.
After a scoreless first quarter, Bulldogs quarterback Kenny Irby (4-of-9, 102 yards) hit Bryan Smithen with a 46-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter. Osbourn Park (1-3, 0-1) answered with a one-yard touchdown run by Frankie Hogan.
Running backs Joaquin Padillia (69 yards) and Addam Jordan (67 yards) paced the Yellow Jackets offense.
Hylton has now outscored Osbourn Park 193-35 in the teams' eight meetings.
* GAR-FIELD 26, OSBOURN 7: Larry Atkinson rushed for 213 yards and two touchdowns, and brother Jamar Atkinson added two of his own as Gar-Field (3-1, 1-0 Cardinal) won at home.
Osbourn falls to 1-3, 0-1.
* STAFFORD 42, JAMES WOOD 15: Dural Dawson ran for 128 yards and scored a pair of touchdowns, one on a 66-yard punt return, as Stafford won its Commonwealth District opener in a rout.
Dawson put the Indians (2-2, 1-0) ahead 14-8 with a 71-yard touchdown run in the first quarter and followed that with his punt return in the second frame. The senior finished with 216 total yards.
Quarterback Brad Hayes tossed touchdown passes of 33 yards to Steve Love and 32 yards to Derek King.
* CHANTILLY 42, STONEWALL JACKSON 0: Marcello Squirewell rushed for 217 yards and two touchdowns as Chantilly won in Manassas.
Antwoin Saunders had 53 yards rushing for Stonewall Jackson (1-3), which hosts Hylton next week in the Raiders' Cardinal District opener.
* RANDOLPH-MACON 48, QUANTICO 14: Quantico (2-3) lost on the road, the Warriors' first loss in the two-year-old Delaney Athletic Conference. Quantico won the four-team conference with a 3-0 mark last year.
