St. Mary's Ryken's boys soccer team handed La Plata its first Southern Maryland Athletic Conference defeat on Friday, beating the visiting Warriors, 3-1.

Ryken, which had lost its first SMAC game of the season to No. 6 Thomas Stone, continued to rebound with an impressive effort against La Plata (6-4-1, 6-1-1).

"We got outhustled tonight," La Plata Coach Chris Butler said. "They were winning all the 50-50 balls. We weren't getting any of them."
