VIRGINIA

Teen Charged With Stabbing StudentAlexandria police said yesterday that they had arrested a 16-year-old Alexandria youth in the stabbing last week of an 18-year-old T.C. Williams High School student near the school during lunch break.

The 16-year-old, who was not identified because he is a juvenile, was charged Saturday with felonious assault and is being held without bond. He was not a student at the school, police said.

The victim, who was stabbed in the abdomen, was released Sunday from Inova Alexandria Hospital, police said.

Alexandria Commonwealth's Attorney S. Randolph Sengel said a hearing has been set for Nov. 5, when he will seek to have the 16-year-old's case transferred to Circuit Court so he can be tried as an adult.

The T.C. Williams student was stabbed after a fight involving about 20 teenagers broke out near school property on King Street, police said. The incident occurred at 12:23 p.m., during the period when students are allowed to leave school for lunch.

Suspect Arrested in Fondling Complaints

Fairfax County police arrested a man and charged him in connection with the fondling of two female joggers last week after police used an undercover female officer to catch him.

Enrique M. Dunlap, 19, of the 6000 block of Oxpen Court in the Kingstowne area, was charged with two counts of sexual battery.

According to police, Dunlap approached a 34-year-old woman who was running on Summer Ridge Road at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and asked her for directions. The woman said the man then grabbed her buttocks before fleeing. The next day, a 30-year-old woman, who had finished jogging about 8:45 p.m., said a man approached her in the 5900 block of Wescott Hills Way and grabbed her leg. She yelled and got away, and he fled.

Officers found and arrested Dunlap after he approached the undercover officer Saturday night near Kingstowne Village Parkway and Summer Ridge Road.

Dunlap is being held without bond.

Man Accused of Firing at Police

Fairfax County police are looking for a man they say fired shots Friday night at officers who arrived to break up a fight on a basketball court in Reston.

The incident broke out on the courts at Glade Drive and Pinecrest Road about 11 p.m., when a man allegedly brandished a handgun during an argument. The participants fled as officers arrived, and when the officers tried to climb a fence in pursuit, shots were fired.

Police later found a gun and in a warrant charged Derek McDaniel, 25, of no fixed address, with assault on a police officer, three gun charges and trespassing. McDaniel is described as a black male, 5 feet 7 inches tall and 175 pounds, with hazel eyes and a shaved head.

2 Sought in Vandalism Rampage

Howard County police are searching for two men believed to have slashed more than 100 car tires and vandalized a kindergarten classroom during a rampage in Elkridge early Sunday.

The suspects, who were driving a red compact car, were seen running at 4 a.m. from the Sherwood Crossing apartments on Old Waterloo Road, where 35 cars were found with slashed tires, police said. Six more cars at the Deep Run Mobile Home Park were similarly damaged.

Police said the suspects also broke into Deep Run Elementary School about 4:30 a.m. and started a fire in a kindergarten classroom that caused $25,000 in damage. The school's sprinkler system extinguished the blaze, but kindergarten classes were canceled yesterday while repairs were made.

Those with information on the crimes should call Howard County police at 410-313-3200.
