New Computer Center

A new computer training center opened recently at the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission Harmony Hall Community Center in Fort Washington.

The nonprofit center is open to the public and provides basic computer training for people of all ages. Classes started Oct. 18 and will be taught by members of the Capital PC Users Group, a Washington-based national computer users association. The center has 12 computers set up and is looking to expand into a new building within the next six months.

"There is a crying need for computer training for jobs at every level, and we want to pull together the resources to do that," said Joseph C. Henson, president of the Greater South County Coalition for Absolute Progress of Prince George's County, a consortium of five civic associations and one of the sponsors of the facility. Classes are three hours each, four nights a week, and cost $36 each. The center is sponsored by the Capital PC Users Groups and the Greater South County Coalition.
