"I pledge to restructure the department to do away with the good old boys' bloated bureaucracy and put the savings to work for the taxpayer; clean up the reserve deputy program by appointing county citizens who want to serve--not cronies who just want to pay thousands of dollars to carry a badge; not forcing the deputy to campaign for me; and to take politics out of the department by establishing grievance procedures for office personnel to keep Prince William County, Manassas Park and Manassas City moving forward for a more appealing and safer community."

What would you like voters to know about you?

"I'm the only one committed to save the taxpayers over $250,000 by eliminating bureaucrats and assuming the constitutional duties of running the jail."

Todd L. McEwen (I)

"I should be elected because this county needs honesty, integrity and committed people. I think my experience in law enforcement speaks for itself. Credibility is very important. We need a change for the people of this county. Deputies will be trained and certified to the fullest. Deputies will be put into our schools for the safety of our children. I will promise to donate 20 percent of my staff to outreach for school security during school hours. I have lived here in this county most of my life."

What would you like voters to know about you?

"I have 16 years of experience in every aspect of the Sheriff's Department, am a certified instructor for the Sheriff's Department and a pistol expert with a lot of training."

Why should the voters elect you?

"I joined the sheriff's office in March 1979. My 20 years with this office have afforded me vast experience and knowledge far surpassing that of the other candidates. I started as a deputy and progressed through the ranks, holding every rank and position within the agency. I increased law enforcement visibility and assistance to local law enforcement agencies; initiated a traffic enforcement program with radar, sobriety checkpoints and joint task force initiatives; established a delinquent child support enforcement program; established community-based programs such as middle school mentoring, senior citizen TRIAD and citizen training; and was the first sheriff's office in Virginia to become state-accredited."

What would you like voters to know about you?

"I've been committed and focused throughout my career on how to best serve the citizens of Prince William County, Manassas and Manassas Park. Public service is a top priority."
