Why should the voters elect you?

"The need for proven leadership is the overwhelming motivation for my candidacy for commissioner of the revenue of Stafford County. For the first time in nearly 60 years, the voters of Stafford will vote for a commissioner who is not the incumbent. The choices: A candidate of youthful inexperience, or John Harris, with years of management experience in both the public and private sectors, in addition to 13 years of service on the Stafford Planning Commission. I know and understand the people and the diversity of issues facing Stafford. I believe in voters' rights to choose who shall be the next commissioner of the revenue."

What would you like voters to know about you?

"I will make the commissioner of the revenue's office truly people-friendly through intelligent use of technology in a cordial, cooperative atmosphere."

Why should the voters elect you?

"The commissioner of the revenue serves as the chief assessing officer for real and personal property. It is imperative that we elect an individual that has experience in both of these fields and a working knowledge of the Virginia Tax Code. As an employee of Stafford's commissioner of the revenue's office, I have had the unique opportunity of working closely with and learning from the dean of commissioners, George L. Gordon Jr. I pledge to carry on the traditions of outstanding customer service and experienced leadership Staffordians have come to expect from Mr. Gordon and his entire staff."

What would you like voters to know about you?

"My years of experience working for Stafford County taxpayers has taught me the importance of an open-door policy and customer-friendly service."
