Hearings Set on Dog Areas
Two public hearings will be held next month on dog exercise areas in Alexandria. Issues for discussion include the location of dog exercise areas, regulations for use and amenities such as benches, water fountains and ground cover.
The hearings will take place Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. at Lee Center, 1108 Jefferson St., and Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. at Patrick Henry School Auditorium, 4643 Taney Ave.
The hearings are sponsored by the Alexandria Park and Recreation Commission. Residents unable to attend may send written comments to the Park and Recreation Commission, 1108 Jefferson St., Alexandria, Va., 22314. For information, call 703-838-4842.
Forum Planned on Y2K Efforts
A public forum on community outreach efforts related to the so-called Y2K computer problem will be held tonight in Alexandria.
The forum, Community Conversation and Status Report on the Year 2000 Computer Problem, is designed to educate residents about the readiness of their local government and the utilities that serve them. Speakers will include Janet Abrams, executive director of the President's Council on Year 2000 Conversion. There will be a question-and-answer session after the speakers.
The forum is at 7:30 p.m. at the Minnie Howard Ninth Grade Center, 3801 W. Braddock Rd. It is sponsored by the City of Alexandria's Commission on Information Technology.
