Why should the voters elect you?

"As a Mount Vernon native, active school and community volunteer and mother of three in public schools, I'm committed to providing a quality education for all children. In order to accomplish this goal, we should change our current course of action in an effort to educate all children with focused, individual attention. We need to fund programs that work and eliminate those that don't. Our schools need to direct more resources for instructional assistants, phonics-based reading, traditional math and teacher and staff development. Our children's future demands accountability in our schools now. Parents should expect and receive a safe, disciplined learning environment for their children. We must challenge our children and expect high standards for all."

What would you like voters to know about you?

"My focus is on academics and achievement. I will provide a strong voice to change the direction of our instructional methods, behavioral problems and poor test scores."

Why should the voters elect you?

"I am an experienced educator, involved parent and active member of the community. I would bring to the school over 14 years of teaching experience, which gives me direct insight into the issues facing our Mount Vernon District schools. I know the issues impacting the administrators and teachers of our schools. I am a parent of three children and have been involved in their schools as a volunteer and on PTA boards. I know the issues facing the children who attend our schools. Our schools are good, but they can, and must, be better. I know I can make a difference."
