Why should the voters elect you?

"I have made it my life's objective to provide the best teachers, safest schools, most effective curriculum and broadest opportunities for our children, with the most efficient spending of every precious tax dollar. I will continue to demonstrate my tireless dedication to our children through my work at School Board meetings (a perfect attendance record); community meetings; annual visits to each of Loudoun's 45 schools, advocating school construction to reduce overcrowding; lobbying our legislators in Richmond and Washington for appropriate legislation and more money; and state-level service on the board of directors of the Virginia School Boards Association."

What would you like voters to know about you?

"I serve on the Loudoun County School Board to ensure the best possible education and safety for our children, not to pad my resume."

Edward L. 'Lee' Ostrander

Age: 39.

Residence: Sterling.

Education: Attended Northern Virginia Community College.

Occupation: Senior director, site and facility services, Total Site Solutions.

Elected offices/civic activities: Former vice chairman, Loudoun County Community Services Board; electrical representative, Virginia State Board for Contractors; assistant Webelos leader, Boy Scouts Pack 956; coach, Loudoun youth sports programs; member, Loudoun County School Impact Fee Review Committee.

Family: Married; four children.

Why should the voters elect you?

"The students, parents and teachers of the Sugarland Run District have not had a strong voice in how their schools have been run for over four years. That is why I have chosen to run for the School Board. My children attend Loudoun County schools, and we need someone who will represent their district, not the administration. Someone who will provide fiscal responsibility making sure we get the best education for our tax dollars. I will see that teachers have the proper resources to teach and that parents are involved in their child's education. Vote this November for representation."

What would you like voters to know about you?

"As an American, I believe in our public school system. We need to find answers, not excuses, for providing a better education for our children."
