Jewish Congregation To Host Holocaust Lectures

Loudoun Jewish Congregation will host two guest lecturers at Erev Shabbat services this month. Both speakers will discuss the Holocaust, the killing of millions of Jews during the Nazi era in Europe.

Douglas A. Henderson, director of library services for the Loudoun County public library system, will be the guest speaker at Erev Shabbat (Sabbath eve) services at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow. He will talk about the library's new Holocaust program.

Stephen Feinstein, director of the Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies at the University of Minnesota and professor emeritus of history at the University of Wisconsin, will be the guest speaker at Erev Shabbat services at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 19. His topic will be "Who Owns the Holocaust?"

Feinstein has published articles in books and professional journals based on his research of Russian Jewish history, Soviet dissident art and artistic responses to the Holocaust.

Mount Olivet to Hold Annual Country Christmas

Mount Olivet United Methodist Church in Lovettsville will hold its annual Country Christmas 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Nov. 13, featuring homemade culinary goods such as pies, cakes and apple butter, handcrafted items and many one-of-a-kind items, including antiques and collectibles.

There will be a cafe with food and beverages available for lunch or dinner while you shop. Admission and parking are free. Country Christmas will be held in Mount Olivet's Fox Fellowship Hall, adjacent to the church. Mount Olivet is just outside Lovettsville on Mountain Road (Route 690).

Riverside Invites Youths To Sunset Adventures

Riverside Presbyterian Church will take fifth-graders on a journey through the book of Acts with its next Sunset Adventure. The church holds Sunset Adventures 6:30-7:30 p.m. each Tuesday from Nov. 16 to Dec. 14 at Potowmack Elementary School. The sessions are free and open to the public, and children need not attend every one to enroll.
