Woman Found Slain in Brandywine

The body of a woman who had been shot to death was discovered yesterday in a rural, wooded area in Brandywine, Prince George's County police said.

The woman, described as black and in her mid-twenties, was found about 9:30 a.m. by two county maintenance workers who were driving along Cherry Tree Crossing Road just south of Old Indian Head Road, police said. The body was about 10 yards off the road.

The woman had been shot once between the eyes; police said they believe she was killed Monday night.

Police said they still were trying to identify the woman. They said she was about 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighed about 200 pounds. She was wearing jeans, a denim jacket and hiking boots.

Woman Accused of Killing Boyfriend

A Forestville woman was arrested yesterday and charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of her live-in boyfriend Monday night, Prince George's County police said.

Terri Inez Howell, 30, of the 6500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, was arrested in the early morning, several hours after police found her boyfriend, Marcus Tyrone Mullen, 29, unconscious in an apartment next door to the couple's apartment about 10 p.m. Monday, police said.

Mullen, who had been stabbed once in the chest, was pronounced dead about 11:30 p.m. Monday at Malcolm Grow Medical Center at Andrews Air Force Base, police said.

Man Gets 18 Months for Exposing Himself

A 22-year-old Gaithersburg man was ordered yesterday to serve 18 months in jail after he pleaded guilty to exposing himself to six children in Rockville and Gaithersburg in three incidents from October 1998 through April.

Although Maryland sentencing guidelines called for Lorento Couch to serve probation, Montgomery County Circuit Court Judge Paul A. McGuckian exceeded the guidelines at prosecutors' request and sentenced Couch to five years in prison, with all but 18 months suspended, plus three years of supervised probation.

Drive-By Shooting Kills Teenage Girl

A 17-year-old girl died late last night after she was shot while standing on a street corner with a group of people in Northeast, police said.

The girl, whose identity was not released immediately, was shot in the chest by someone in a passing car, police said. The shooting in the 4500 block of Quarles Street occurred at 11:15 p.m.; the victim was pronounced dead at D.C. General Hospital at 11:52 p.m.
