Six people were wounded in the District last night, some of them seriously, during four shootings in widely separate neighborhoods.
In the first of the apparently unrelated attacks, which began about 7:30 p.m., two people were shot near Longfellow Street and Colorado Avenue NW in the Brightwood Park neighborhood just east of 16th Street NW.
The victims were hit in an alley, said a detective from the 4th police district. A woman was hit in the leg, back and wrist; a man was hit in the leg.
One resident of the 1300 Block of Longfellow Street said: "I heard a round of gunfire and then I heard someone yell and then I heard another round. We have had drive-by shootings, but nothing like this where people are running and shooting right near your house."
The two wounded were taken to Washington Hospital Center. Police said they had no suspects and knew of no motive.
A few minutes later, a man was shot in the head in the 100 block of Xenia Street SE.
Two more people were shot near Summit Place and Todd Place NE, in the Eckington area of Northeast Washington near Rhode Island Avenue. It sounded "like an army," said a resident of the neighborhood, who told of hearing at least a half-dozen shots.
One of the victims fell near T Street, where the shooting apparently occurred. The other, she said, ran down Todd Place, leaving a trail of blood, before falling near Summit Place.
All of the shootings occurred within about 90 minutes. In the last, which occurred a few minutes before 9 p.m., a man was shot in the 3300 block of 10th Place SE.
